Premium Nutrition for Developing Predators
For the beginner aquarist or herpetologist, choosing the right feeder is the most critical step in ensuring your pet’s long-term health. Stoffels Frozen Baby Rats (often called “Pinkies”) provide a rich source of protein and essential fats that are easily digestible for young or sensitive animals.
Unlike larger prey, baby rats have minimal fur and softer bones, making them the perfect “transition” food for species that may struggle with the tougher skin of adult mice.
Ethical Sourcing & Safety
We understand that the health of your pet is your top priority. Stoffels feeders are:
-
Flash-Frozen: Preserves maximum nutritional value and eliminates many common parasites found in live prey.
-
Humane: Sourced from facilities that adhere to strict animal welfare standards.
-
Convenient: The 20-piece Ecopack allows you to take out exactly what you need, keeping the rest fresh in your freezer.
Feeding Guide for Beginners
-
Thawing: Never use a microwave. Thaw the rat slowly in a sealed bag placed in a bowl of lukewarm water until it reaches room temperature.
-
Temperature Check: Ensure the prey is warm to the touch (approx. 30–35°C) to stimulate the hunting instinct of heat-sensing reptiles.
-
Presentation: Use feeding tongs (tweezers) to offer the prey. This prevents accidental bites and stops your pet from associating your hand with food.
-
Frequency: For most hatchling snakes, one baby rat every 5–7 days is a standard starting point, but always consult a species-specific care sheet.
Important Note: Always wash your hands and any surfaces thoroughly after handling frozen feeders to maintain hygiene.
