Diet: Omnivorous; they feed on small invertebrates, worms, algae, and detritus. In the aquarium, they will accept algae wafers, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and blanched vegetables.
Temperament: Peaceful, but shy and nocturnal. They prefer to hide during the day and are most active at night.
Compatibility: Best kept with other peaceful, small fish like Tetras, Corydoras, and Shrimp. Avoid larger or aggressive species that could outcompete them for food.
Breeding: Breeding in captivity is rare, and the species is quite challenging to breed due to its specific water and environmental requirements.
Care Tips:
Provide a soft substrate (like sand or fine gravel) for burrowing, as they enjoy digging into the substrate.
Ensure the tank has plenty of hiding spots like plants, driftwood, and caves to make them feel secure.
Keep the water clean and well-oxygenated, as they thrive in stable water conditions.
