Description
The lotus pods have several small holes/holes where shrimps can hide and find food. The lotus pods are a natural product and therefore have a natural appearance. This gives the aquarium a natural look and the natural environment of shrimp and fish imitated.
The effects of lotus pods in the aquarium can be compared to the effects of catappa products. The lotus pods are full of tannins which have many positive effects and naturally lower the pH of the water. These substances also have an antibacterial and stress-relieving effect. The lotus pods give the water a brown colour and are therefore also suitable for creating a black water biotope.
Because the lotus pod is a natural product, it may vary in shape and size.
Part of the seed pod of the Lotus plant (Nelumbo nucifera). A beautiful, natural decoration for your aquarium!
Naturally contains polyphenols, proteins and polysaccharides, among other things. Like other natural products, these seed heads are believed to have medicinal and disinfectant properties. However, this has not yet been proven.
Before use, we recommend boiling the lotus pods for 40 minutes. While cooking, place a stone or other heavy object on the pods. Finally, soak them in water overnight, again under a heavy object. This is to minimise the floating ability of the pods. It is a bit of work, but your aquarium is guaranteed to have a beautiful, natural decoration after this.
This is a natural product and may vary in colour, size and texture. Each pod is unique! The photo serves as a reasonable representation of what you can expect.
Part of the “seed head” of the lotus plant (Nelumbo nucifera), these unique, light-as-a-spring botanicals have an average diameter of 3.5 – 4 inches (approximately 8.89-10.16 cm) and are a really cool piece of decor for an aquarium with a Southeast Asian or Indian theme!
These seed pods are the by-product of human food production in India (almost every part of this plant is considered edible!) and are easily collected, cleaned and air-dried, free of chemicals or preservatives.
Interestingly, the seeds, and possibly the seed pods of the Lotus, contain polyphenols, proteins, polysaccharides … compounds commonly found in other botanicals and leaves to which “medicinal” properties for fish are attributed. However, we will stop short of suggesting any benefit to your fish other than their unique aesthetics!
Size: 5-10cm
