The German Blue Ram is a selectively bred variant of the Blue Ram, known for its vibrant blue coloration, which becomes more prominent as juveniles mature into adults. With a short lifespan of around 2 years, they grow and reach maturity quickly. When selecting Rams for purchase, younger specimens are ideal for breeding, as older fish may no longer spawn.

Aquarium Care

• Expert Level Care: Due to their need for stable water parameters and excellent water quality.
• Water Requirements: Prefer soft, acidic water, though farm-raised Rams are more tolerant but still need low TDS and clean conditions.
• Tank Size: A group of 5–10 Rams is best, requiring a 30+ gallon tank for their social behavior and territorial needs.
• Setup: Sand, gravel, live plants, driftwood, and rocks create an environment that mimics their natural habitat while providing territories.

Feeding

German Blue Rams are aggressive feeders and thrive on a varied diet of commercial flakes, pellets, freeze-dried worms, and frozen brine or mysis shrimp. Feeding twice daily in small portions ensures they receive adequate nutrition.
