Peppered Corydoras have sharp barbs under their eyes and fins to deter predators, which can make handling them tricky. They’re peaceful, active during the day, and enjoy sitting in one spot to forage for food. They prefer to live in groups. This species can produce sounds by moving their pectoral fins, especially during courtship or when stressed.

For their habitat, provide a sandy or fine gravel substrate, plenty of hiding spots, live or artificial plants, and subdued lighting. Driftwood or bogwood helps create hiding spaces.

Peppered Corys thrive on live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, but they also accept frozen, flake, and pellet foods. As bottom feeders, ensure food reaches the substrate, using sinking pellets or tablets, and feed them at night as they often forage then.
