Seachem Acid Buffer™ – Non-Phosphate pH Buffer for Freshwater Aquariums

Seachem Acid Buffer™ is a high-quality, non-phosphate buffering agent specifically formulated to lower and stabilize pH levels in freshwater aquariums. Designed for use in planted tanks or systems with very hard water, it offers an effective alternative to phosphate-based buffers, helping to prevent issues such as algae growth and water cloudiness.

When used in combination with Seachem Alkaline Buffer™, Acid Buffer™ enables precise control of pH between 6.0 and 8.0, making it ideal for maintaining optimal conditions for aquatic plants and sensitive fish species. Additionally, as it lowers pH, Acid Buffer™ converts carbonate alkalinity (KH) into bioavailable CO₂, supporting healthy plant growth.

Directions for Use:
Add 1/4 teaspoon (2 g) per 80 L (20 US gallons) of water daily until the desired pH is achieved. This dosage reduces alkalinity by approximately 0.2 meq/L (0.6 dKH). For accurate dosing and optimal results, especially in soft or poorly buffered water, use in conjunction with Alkaline Buffer™ according to the recommended ratio chart.
