Why Choose White Mosquito Larvae?
Unlike Red Mosquito Larvae (Bloodworms), White Mosquito Larvae (the larvae of the Chaoborus midge) are more buoyant and “swim” in the water column longer, making them an irresistible target for surface and mid-water feeders. They are exceptionally clean and rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which are vital for fish vitality and long-term health.
Benefits for Your Aquarium
-
Encourages Natural Behavior: Because they float and drift, they trigger the “strike” reflex in predatory and community fish.
-
Supports Breeding: The high protein content (approx. 7–8%) helps condition adult fish for spawning.
-
Easy Digestion: Their soft bodies are easy for smaller fish like Tetras or Rasboras to consume without digestive stress.
-
Minimal Waste: Stoffels uses a rapid-freezing process that keeps the larvae intact, preventing “leaking” nutrients from clouding your aquarium water.
Beginner’s Feeding Guide
-
Portioning: Break off one cube (or a portion of one) from the “Choco” blister pack.
-
Thawing: Place the frozen cube in a small cup with a little aquarium water for 2-3 minutes until defrosted.
-
Rinsing (Optional): For the cleanest tank, pour the thawed larvae through a fine-mesh net and rinse under cool tap water.
-
Serving: Add the larvae to the tank slowly. Only feed what your fish can consume within 3 to 5 minutes.
